When reading this you will probably have missed what now seems to become the largest Tolkien event ever seen in Denmark. "Missed" because, though in writing this it still lays in the future, the days are cauting down rapidly.

In last issue Ditte Hendrichsen reported of a Tolkien event, a concert with Tolkien inspired music and slides of illustrations made for The Lord of the Rings, arranged as part of the Copenhagen, European Cultural Capital of 1996 festivities. A few days ago, however, members of Imladris learned that this was not the only Tolkien event to be held during the "Kulturby '96".

On 27 September the hiterto largest Tolkien event is to be held in the palace garden in Hørsholm. 700 people are involved in making it all a succes and they expect some 4,000 people to join them during an evening with dances, music, concert in the church, lightening shows and theatre realms where you can be caught by Orcs and evil trees, freeed by Bombadil or meet the Elves and lots of Hobbits! I will say no more now but I promise to tell you all about it in next issue.

The contents in this issue are: Reviews of the Norwegian edition of Tree and Leaf, of Scull and Hammond's book J.R.R. Tolkien Artist & Illustrator and of the Danish edition of George Sayer's biography on C.S. Lewis plus the BBC dramatisation of The Lord of the Rings. You'll also find a list of my own auditive Tolkien collection, more lessons in Basic Quenya and a poem, our news letter columns and corrections for Appendix C of the Danish edition of The Lord of the Rings.

Besides the above mentioned event a birthday party will be held to celebrate Bilbo and Frodo Baggins in Århus on 22 September and on 19 October our annual "Medlemsting" will be held in Børkop near Vejle where officers for the Council of Imladris are elected. The latter will be arranged as part of the "Creative City", a role playing con involving also alternative and creative clubs and societies. Imladris will have its own part of the con with lots of Tolkien discussions and exhibits. But as I said, the "Medlemting" also has another dimension. Election of officers and discussion of future plans which I regret I cannot be part of. Due to the expectations of lots of deadlines and work coming with my future journalistic internships I stand down from the post as officer of the Council and editor of Athelas, effective as of my last and next issue.Until then I remain your humble servant.
